After the noise and chaos of العودة, (Per/Con)formative Linearity performs conformity in a way that feels linear. too_basicc built its tracks around genre templates: four-on-the-floor patterns, predictable arrangements and recognisable forms, reaching into more melodic electro territory.
Those structures are then disrupted from the inside, with dissonance where the genre expects consonance, the wrong kicks for the wrong genres, and samples that don’t belong to the form being built. The conformity is loud enough to be felt rather than heard; the disruption is what keeps it from settling. The album is the bridge between the synthesis experiments of العودة and the storytelling of عهد الأصدقاء.
